Compare shingles, metal, standing seam and tile using the requirements of the building. The best starting point is fit, scope and documented expectations.
Match the material to the roof
Roof slope, structure, substrate and details influence which products are suitable. Tile may require structural review. Metal systems need attention to movement and snow-shedding paths. Shingle systems still depend on correctly detailed underlayment, flashing and ventilation.
No material is the best choice for every Flathead Valley property. Discuss product requirements and the existing assembly before comparing finishes.
Ask about ownership after installation
Compare maintenance needs, service access, repairability, appearance expectations and written warranties. Ask how penetrations or future equipment would be handled.
A material’s published attributes do not guarantee a particular result on your roof. Confirm the full specification and installation requirements in the proposal.
